It was recently reported that singer Rihanna got the words "Thug Life" tattooed across her knuckles. This is not Rihanna's first tattoo. She has a total of 8 tattoos so far. But this tattoo is different and can cause her problems later. Why? Because the color of the tattoo was "flesh colored".
What's wrong with getting "flesh colored" tattoos? Nothing really. But the issue is mainly that if you change your mind about the tattoo later on, there is little that can be done about it as far as laser tattoo removal.
Laser tattoo removal works best on darker colors tattoo ink. As we mentioned in another article, black and red color tattoos are easier to remove with laser tattoo removal. Peach or "flesh colored" tattoos are very difficult to fade and remove. It almost sounds counter-intuitive, but the fact is the darker the tattoo, the better the laser can destroy it.

Recently, we have seen a few patients come in for laser tattoo removal after getting cover up tattoos over their original tattoos.
If you like tattoos in general but just don't like your one tattoo, a cover up tattoo is a good option. It will go over the the original tattoo and prevent the old tattoo from being seen. Because it is covering another tattoo, the cover-up tattoo is generally larger and darker than the original tattoo.
One thing which you have to consider is that some tattoo artists want the original tattoo is to be faded a bit, so the old tattoo's ink does not come through onto the new tattoo. We often get patients who need their original tattoo faded a bit so they can get a cover up tattoo. And we're happy to do so.
However, we have also seen patients who were not happy with their cover up tattoo either. And this is where it can become problematic. If the cover up tattoo is bad, now there is two bad tattoos and it gets very hard to do laser tattoo removal. As mentioned in other articles, most tattoos will require a minimum of 6-10 laser sessions. If someone has a cover up tattoo, it can require twice as many sessions simply because there is so many layering of the ink.
That is why laser tattoo removal is the best option available for people who want to remove their tattoos. If you live in the Orlando or Central Florida area and are interested in laser tattoo removal, call Pristine Laser Center today at 407-494-0404 for an appointment.
As of January 1 2012, the state of Florida has enacted new regulations on the tattoo industry operating here in the Sunshine State. the rules and regulations were passed to ensure the safety and well-being of Floridians interested in getting a tattoo.
The new regulations require all tattoo artists to take a course and pass a test on blood-borne pathogens since during the tattoo process, there is likely to be some bleeding.
There will also be licensing requirements meaning that all tattooing must be done inside of a registered, licensed facility.
The law also requires that no one under the age of 16 may get a tattoo unless there is a medical reason for doing so.
Anyone over the age of 16, but less than 18 must be accompanied by his or her parents.
While these regulations may seem strict and harsh, we believe and support these actions taken by the state of Florida. We have seen too many tattoos that have gotten infected. We have also seen a number of minors who received tattoos without parent's consent, tattoos that did not turn out so well.
If you live in the state of Florida and here in Orlando, be sure to check with the tattoo facility to ensure they are fully registered and licensed to operate. Otherwise, you could be in harm's way.
