Vitamin D is a key component of healthy, beautiful skin. As mentioned earlier, it is vital for normal bone growth and health, a healthy immune system, and most importantly in the function and wellness of our biggest organ, the skin. Most of us think of our skin as dead. Every single skin cell begins its life at the basal layer of the epidermis. As it migrates upwards towards the top, it undergoes many changes in form and function. The rate of which these cells divide and move to the surface are controlled by various things including Vitamin D. It is estimated that the skin on our body loses about 40,000 cells every minute. If our body does not have the proper vitamins and nutrients to replace these cells, our skin becomes think and fragile and will start to sag.
Free radicals produced by our own body and from the environment also damage the skin by destroying it's structural support, decreasing elasticity, and resilience. Vitamin D serves as an anti-oxidant, fighting the free radicals to keep the skin healthy. As mentioned before, sun exposure is the major source of Vitamin D production by the skin. But due to UV-blocking sunscreen and our indoor living, most of us lack the proper amount of Vitamin D. It is estimated that 75% of us are deficient in Vitamin D. There are skincare products available on the market that contain Vitamin D. There are also Vitamin D supplements available. The best way to know if our body has the proper amount of Vitamin D is a blood test which checks for levels of Vitamin D. If you are interested in having your Vitamin D levels checked, Pristine Laser Center can help. Call us today at 407-494-0404 for an appointment.

Tattoos come in different shapes, sizes and colors. Tattoos can be classified into different types and the number of laser treatments it takes to remove the tattoo can therefore vary.
Professionally-done tattoos have high density of ink, are injected deeper into the skin and usually have multiple colors involved. These tattoos usually require the most number of sessions, anywhere between 6-15 sessions. It is important to know and understand that pink, yellow or lighter colors are generally much harder to remove, if not impossible. Amateur Tattoos are easier to remove because the amount of ink injected is much less and the ink is not so deep. Generally speaking, it can take anywhere between 2-6 treatments to remove these amateur tattoos. Permanent makeup tattoos such as those done on the lips or eyebrows usually have less ink than professional tattoos. These types of tattoos can take anywhere between 1-3 treatment depending on the density of the ink and the type of ink used. Traumatic tattoos can occur from foreign particles/debris is embedded into the skin after trauma such as a bicycle or motorcycle accident when the skin is damaged. It is impossible to predict how many laser tattoo sessions it may take to remove such a tattoo. It may be impossible to get rid of traumatic tattoos, so be sure to have reasonable expectations. And finally, medicinal tattoos are used in medicine to mark sites on the body where, among other things, radiation treatment will be utilized. Medicinal tattoos usually don't have much ink in them and take on average 1-2 laser treatments to remove. They are also more prone to developing post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, whether after surgery, injury, or infection.
It is common of Asians to seek treatment for these pigmented lesions. In the past, surgery or other forms of invasive treatments were the only choice. However, with the advancement in laser technology, it is now possible to effectively and safely treat these skin pigmentation disorders. What these lasers are able to do is to treat the pigmented lesions without damaging or destroying the surrounding tissue. Pigmented lesions are classified based upon where the pigmented lesions are located: epidermis, dermis, or both. For appropriate treatment, the right laser must be utilized. First, let's talk about the laser that don't work for the treatment of pigmented lesions. Carbon dioxide lasers (10,600 nm) and Er:YAG lasers (2,940 nm) lasers are non-pigment selective lasers which are used for laser skin resurfacing in the treatment of wrinkles and scars. These lasers may help to remove certain superficial pigmented lesions, but are not the best choice. Pigment selective lasers (non-ablative) are more accurate and precise in the treatment of pigmented lesions which much less risk of developing post-inflammatory pigmentation. According to the studies available, the lasers below provide the best option for treatment of pigmented lesions:
If you have pigmented lesions on your skin, call Pristine Laser Center at 407-494-0404 for a consultation. We will discuss treatment options and answer any questions which you may have. As you search and learn more about your options for tattoo removal, it is important to understand and be familiar with the types of lasers available on the market for laser tattoo removal. One of the first things we do at Pristine Laser Center is to educate our patients about the types of lasers we utilize for laser tattoo removal.
First, some history about lasers and tattoo removal. In the past, a variety of lasers and procedures were used and tried for tattoo removal. These included pulse-dyed lasers, IPLs and carbon-dioxide lasers. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels were even tried for tattoo removal. Over the years, it became obvious that these techniques and lasers were not very good at removing tattoos and they often damaged the skin which led to scarring. With the advancement in laser technology and experience gained in tattoo removal it became evident that the best lasers available on the market for tattoo removal are the quality-switched, Nd:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet; Nd:Y3Al5O12)--from here on referred to as Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers. These lasers safely and effectively deliver a high amount of energy deep into the dermal layer of the skin to shatter and break up the ink particles. With the smaller ink particles, the body's lymphatic system is then able to remove the ink particles gradually over several weeks. The advantage of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser is that it emits short, high-powered pulses producing a beam of light that contains a much higher power than if the same laser produced in a continuous wave or constant output mode. With the short, high-powered pulse, energy is delivered and penetrated deep into the skin, without damaging the surrounding tissue reducing the risk for any kind of scarring. So, we have determined that a Q-switched Nd:YAG is the best laser for tattoo removal. So the next question might be, "Are all Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers the same?". As you might expect, the answer is No. There are many companies touting their Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers. Some of these lasers are inexpensive, small, portable, table-top tattoo removal lasers. The draw back to these lasers is that it generally can't emit a high energy beam to destroy the ink particles, nor does it utilize a large enough spot size to get adequate penetration of energy which can lead to scarring. Although this information may be technical in nature, it is very important to be educated about the different types of lasers available for laser tattoo removal and be able to research and find the best laser tattoo removal clinic in your area. If you are in the Orlando area and would like to get more information or come in for a laser tattoo removal consultation, please call Pristine Laser Center at 407-494-0404 today! One of the most common questions we get is "What is the cost for laser tattoo removal?" Although a simple and understandable question, it is very hard to answer it without actually seeing the tattoo first.
Laser tattoo removal cost depends on various factors: First, it is important to note that the price given is usually "per session". It is almost impossible to know exactly how many sessions it will take to remove a tattoo. That depends on various factors such as the colors of the tattoo, the layering of ink, the age of the tattoo and so on. Secondly, the price per session for laser tattoo removal depends on the size of the tattoo as well as the color(s) in the tattoo. The bigger the tattoo, the higher its cost. The more colors in the tattoo, the higher the costs and the more sessions it will take to remove. While you are "shopping around" to find the best deal in laser tattoo removal in Orlando, it is important to consider several things: Are the treatments being done in a medical office with a physician who is experienced in providing laser tattoo removal treatments? Or will a "tech" or "assistant" be seeing you and doing the procedure? At some point, preferably at the initial consultation, you should meet the physician who should explain the procedure and answer all of your questions. There is also the question of the type of laser machine used by the facility. Although there are a number of laser machines on the market touted for laser tattoo removal, only one or two are really good and superior to all others. We have seen far too many patients who come in with tattoos that are half-done. Why? Because the laser machine used on them was not very good. Sometimes, these machines may actually do more harm than good. Some laser machines will even cause bleeding, scarring, and skin discoloration. So, you should be wary of places that have sub-standard tattoo removal lasers. Also, because these lasers are inferior lasers, you will most likely have to have more treatment sessions to remove the tattoo. So you end up paying more overall for your laser tattoo removal. We have also seen too many patients who come to us after their previous provider closed or had problems continuing their treatments. It is important to ask questions before you start the laser tattoo removal process. It is not a good idea to jump from one provider to another as their machines and protocols are probably different. You will not get the best results if you keep changing providers. There are also places that "rent" their laser machine once or twice a month to provide laser tattoo removal. Do you really want to go to a place that only provides treatment once or twice a month?! In the end, you do get what you pay for. If you just choose a place based upon price alone, you will most likely be disappointed and face a long road of heart-ache, wasted time and money as you try to get your tattoo lasered off. So, how much does laser tattoo removal cost? Generally speaking, if you have a small (fold a dollar-bill in half) black or dark tattoo, it could be anywhere from $100-$250/session. If you have a medium size tattoo (size of a dollar bill), it would run anywhere between $250-$350/session. If you have colors in the tattoo, especially blue or green, it will be a bit more. If you purchase a package, it will probably save you a lot of money in the long- run. However, the best thing to do is go in for an evaluation and consultation. It is virtually impossible for anyone to tell you price over the phone without first seeing the tattoo. We provide discounts to students and educators and run monthly specials for those looking to score a great deal.
