The Food and Drug Administration is proposing that indoor tanning beds should carry a warning against their use in people under the age of 18 as well as reclassifying the ultraviolet lamps used in tanning beds as class II (moderate risk) from class I (low risk). According to the American Academy of Dermatology, people who use indoor tanning products are at a 75% higher risk of developing melanoma. It is estimated that about 2.5 million teens use indoor tanning beds and melanoma is the most common type of cancer in adults aged 25-29. Are you using a tanning bed? Is your teenager using a tanning bed? If so, please understand the risks from using these types of products as they increase the risk of developing melanoma, a very aggressive type of skin cancer which if not treated early, can be deadly. Pristine Laser Center encourages you to avoid tanning beds and make sure you are using an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen when you are outdoors. About Pristine Laser Center: Pristine Laser Center is the leading medical laser clinic in Orlando offering a variety of laser services including laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal, laser skin rejuvenation, laser treatment for acne scars, laser removal of sun spots and hyperpigmentation.
