Looking Old for Your Age? Your Arteries May be at Risk.
If you look older than your chronological age, there is a good chance that your coronary arteries may be aging faster as well.
Findings from a landmark report from the Copenhagen City Heart Study reveal that several skin signs of aging are good predictors of heart disease and heart attacks.
The findings showed that having wrinkles and gray hair were not shown to independently increase heart disease.
There were 4 aging signs that were determined to be independent predictors of heart disease. The first was xanthelasma, yellowish cholesterol deposits around the eyelids, was associated with a 35% increase of heart attacks. Having an ear lobe crease was associated with a 11% increase in heart disease and heart attacks. For men, having crown top baldness was associated with a 40% increase in risk and having frontal-side baldness was associated with a 14% increase in risk.
Interestingly, the more of these 4 signs, the greater the risk.
If you have any of these signs, be sure to speak with your doctor, exercise, and eat a healthy diet.
